Fitness check on the car sector in Europe – Vehicles testing and emission scandal

sustainability-carsThe 28th of September 2016, CITA will take part at the conference ‘Fitness check on the car sector in Europe- Vehicles testing and emission scandal’, hosted by the European Consumer Organisation (BEUC).

Besides CITA, confirmed speakers include representatives from the European Parliament, the DG Grow, the International Council on Clean Transportation, the Association for Emissions Control by Catalyst, the Transport & Environment, and the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association – ACEA.

The aim of this conference is take stock of the ongoing developments in the car sector to address consumers’ concerns related: the use of accurate fuel consumption figures, compensation demands and high NOx emission outputs.

The event will allow for a specific focus on what is required at both the European and national level to restore consumer trust in the car sector. In addition, the debate will focus on appropriate EU and national measures with regard to vehicle testing, type approval, market surveillance and liability issues.

It will be an occasion to discuss future mobility challenges in the car sector such as decarbonisation and new mobility solutions, and try to answer the question what will have to change to arrive at a cleaner car mobility future.
