Mongolian National Road Transport Center obtained ISO 17020

In Mongolia, mandatory inspection for light vehicles, vehicles for carriage of passengers and vehicle less than 3.5 tones, was started in 1999, after years of operations with non-relevant results. The percentage of vehicles effectively inspected was relatively low, and the results of inspection did not reflect the real technical status of the fleet. This has led the authorities to consider that there was obviously an integrity issue. Since it was difficult to solve this issue at that time, it was decided by Mongolian government to launch project of establishing PTI centers in 2001 with support of World Bank and Nordic Development fund, successfully implemented in 2005.

Founded in 2005, the National Road Transport Center of Mongolia is a state-owned enterprise. One of activities it performs along with others is PTI. The National Road Transport Center is committed to delivery reliable, safe service with high quality to customers. In this regard, they are continuously trying to improve their services according to ISO, and they desire implement best practices and experiences in their activities.

Last 22 October 2018, fulfilling those requirements, they have Accreditation from Mongolian Standardization and Metrology, which is Signatory to the ILAC MRA. The National Road Transport Center is one of the first organizations accredited by ISO 17020 in transport sector in Mongolia, and it can be considered as one big step forward.
