New UN rules established under the 1997 Agreement

Geneva, Switzerland (14 November 2018). In the last WP.29 meeting, the UNECE World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations, are been approved the new Rule 3 and Rule 4 of the 1997 Agreement on Periodical Technical Inspections (agreement concerning the adoption of uniform conditions for periodical technical inspections of wheeled vehicles and the reciprocal recognition of such inspections).

The new Rule 3 is about the inspection of gas powered vehicles, including CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). The Rule 4 is about the inspection of electric and hybrid-electric vehicles.

This is the first time that an international regulation defines dedicated provisions for such matters.
