Car Exhaust: The Remote Sensing

Experts have debated in the European Parliament about the possibilities of using remote sensing technologies to tackle emissions coming from road vehicles.

To discuss the matter, Gerhard MÜLLER, CITA Vice-President Technical Affairs, attended the event “Car Exhaust: The Potential of Remote Sensing” at the European Parliament last Thursday (28 September, 2017) organized by the Greens – S&D – ECR and EPP groups. Pascal Buekenhoudt representing GOCA, and OPUS inspection – CITA Member, also participated at the discussion.

Remote sensing shows potential as screening technology to detect those models of vehicles with abnormal pollutant emissions, and opens the door for a cost effective market surveillance tool that supplements other enforcement activities.
