During this exclusive policy briefing webinar we will present the findings of a new independent study titled: “Significance of the Periodic Technical Inspection and the Inspection Interval for Road Safety” conducted by Dresden University of Applied Sciences (HTW Dresden) on the contribution of Periodic Technical Inspection (PTI) to road safety.

At a time when the European Union is pursuing its Vision Zero ambition and reviewing the Roadworthiness Package, the study provides robust new evidence on the role of vehicle roadworthiness in preventing accidents and saving lives. Drawing on extensive accident investigations and large-scale field testing, the research demonstrates that technical defects contribute to serious road accidents far more frequently than reflected in official statistics and confirms that effective PTI significantly reduces the presence of unsafe vehicles on Europe’s roads.
